Who We Are
Our church began as a mission field of the Protestant Reformed Churches in 1998. In March of 2009, we were organized and constituted as a self-governing congregation. Our congregation is small, with about 40 people in attendance at each worship service, but we are praying and working with the hope that God will add to our number here in Spokane. The council consists of a pastor, two ruling elders and one dåeacon.
We belong to the Federation of Protestant Reformed Churches in America (PRC) which is a denomination of 30 churches and almost 7,000 members. We were founded as a separate denomination of Reformed churches in 1924 and trace our roots to the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century in Europe. We follow the 3 historic reformed creeds also known as the Three Forms of Unity: the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dordt. We believe these three creeds accurately and faithfully summarize the teachings of Scripture.
Our pastor is the Reverend Rodney Kleyn. He was born and raised in the Evangelical Presbyterian Churches of Australia and has lived in the United States since 1994. After graduating from the PRC Theological Seminary in May, 2002, Pastor Kleyn served for seven years as the pastor of Trinity Protestant Reformed Church in Hudsonville, MI. He and his wife Elizabeth and family came to us in July of 2009 shortly after we were organized.
